We attach special importance to the protection of your personal data. That is why we will only process your data in accordance with the relevant legislation (GDPR, Data Protection Act).

This data protection information is intended to shed light on the main ways in which we process the personal data we collect from you in connection with your use of our website, social media channels, mobile app or other web applications. In addition, it explains some of the measures taken to maintain the confidentiality of transmitted data and to protect your privacy.

This data protection information is valid for the VP Bank website. We may amend it at any time without prior notice. Amendments enter into force as soon as they are published. Certain pages may contain links to other providers within or outside VP Bank Group that are not covered by this data protection information. We cannot accept any liability for the content posted by other providers.

Contacting us

If you contact us via the website or by e-mail, we process the data you supply in order to handle your enquiry and any questions that follow on from it.

We collect, process and make use of personal data on our website so that we can provide you with even better products and services, gear our business processes even more closely to our clients and make access to product information and e-banking applications even more efficient.

Web analysis, targeting and cookies

Our website uses cookies, small text files saved to your device with the help of the browser. They do no damage, their purpose being to facilitate the use of web pages and make them more customised.

Some cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies make it possible for us to recognise your browser when you next visit the site. These include cookies that are technically necessary to allow our website to function, or cookies that provide you with a service or an option you require, such as storing your personal settings (e.g. your chosen language or the like).

The Bank is always striving to improve our website. Other cookies are used for website and performance analysis, providing us with general statistics for the number of visitors, the pages visited, etc. These data are gathered and evaluated internally. We use the results in statistical analyses to check that the design of our web presence is fit for purpose. In addition, whenever you visit particular web pages, temporary cookies of targeting service providers may be saved to the hard disk of your computer or to your mobile device. These are automatically deleted after a predetermined length of time has elapsed. These cookies contain a machine-generated alphanumerical identifier from which nobody can infer your identity or the IP address of your computer. You can prevent the use of targeting cookies by changing your browser settings so that no cookies are saved.

Cookies are normally used primarily to gather anonymised data that enable us to analyse how our website is used.

If you wish to be able to share content from our website on social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, etc., the relevant cookie has to be installed on your device. From the moment the function is used, all responsibility for any further data processing rests with the company concerned. For further information, please refer to the guidelines issued by that company.

Managing cookies

As already mentioned, with the help of cookies you can take advantage of the entire functionality of our website.

If you do not permit cookies or deactivate them, the functionality of our website will be restricted. If you do not want cookies you can set your browser to inform you whenever cookies are introduced so that you can choose to permit them in individual cases. You can also set your web browser to deactivate cookies automatically. Please note that most browsers offer various options for protecting your privacy. Instructions on how to manage cookies on your browser can normally be found under the browser's "help" function or in the operating instructions for your mobile device.

Embedded third-party content and services and the use of plug-ins

The Bank's web pages may sometime incorporate third-party content (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube videos, Simplex, Google-Maps material or graphics from other websites), known as "embedded components" or "plug-ins and widgets". Embedded content cannot exist unless its providers use the user's IP address, without which no content can be sent to the user's browser. By clicking on the relevant symbol you consent to communication with the platform concerned and to the transmission of information to the service provider in question. We have no influence over the scope of data gathered by the social network with the help of embedded components. We endeavour to incorporate content only from third parties which use IP addresses solely for the delivery of content. From the moment the function is used, all responsibility for any further data processing rests with the company concerned. Please refer to the data protection information issued by the relevant service provider on the ways in which your personal data is used.

Newsletter

You have the option of subscribing to our newsletter through our client advisors. For this we need your e-mail address and a declaration that you agree to receive the newsletter.

We are using a GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliant service provider for the mailing of newsletters.

To make sure we can keep you informed in a properly targeted manner, we also gather and process information you have volunteered (interests, place of residence, etc.).

You can cancel your subscription to the newsletter at any time. To cancel it, please use this web form. We will then immediately delete your personal data relating to the mailing of our newsletter.

Data storage

We draw your attention to the fact that the website operator saves the IP data of the connection subscriber whenever cookies are used during visits to our website. Personal data, such as the name and address of the website visitor, may sometimes be recorded, too (via the relevant input screens).

In accordance with the applicable data protection legislation, our websites inform those visiting them if any personal data is collected for any purposes above and beyond targeting. We gather, use and process personal data if they are required for contractual performance and/or the initiation of business, if you have expressly consented to their collection (e.g. when requesting prospectuses or newsletter). Such consent may be given electronically. Once given, your consent may be revoked at any time with regard to the future. Personal data communicated to us via our website will be stored only until the purpose for which they were entrusted to us has been fulfilled. Where a contract has been concluded, all data originating from the contractual relationship will be stored until the statutory data storage period expires.

Upon being entered by you, the information gathered on this website will be forwarded to the competent unit within the Bank. In the process, banking secrecy rules and data confidentiality will be upheld. Such data will not be disclosed to third parties unless this is necessary, e.g. to satisfy enquiries for prospectuses or to have brochures mailed by third-party service providers. Personal data will only ever be used for the purpose indicated on the page of our website on which the data were collected from you. Pages on which we collect personal data are normally marked with the encryption icon incorporated into your browser. With its use of cutting-edge security software and certified encoding and encryption procedures, our IT infrastructure meets international security standards. On top of this, with regard to account access via the Internet the Bank has put in place a wide array of state-of-the-art additional security precautions and technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, unauthorised access or misuse.

Regardless of the measures taken to protect your personal data, however, there is always a chance that data protection and the confidentiality of data processing via universally accessible media can be compromised. Because of the way the Internet is designed, whenever it is used as a transmission medium in combination with a computer, smartphone or other device, there is always a possibility of third parties gaining access to your data and inferring the existence of any business relationships that exist or transmitting personal data to third countries without our knowledge or involvement.

We would therefore strongly recommend that particularly sensitive information and data, especially personal data or account information, only ever be transmitted via a secure channel of communication. You hereby accept that all entries and/or transmissions of personal or business data in connection with your use of our website or other digital services are done by you in full awareness of the associated risks, voluntarily and without any corresponding guarantees. No liability whatsoever can be accepted for direct and indirect damage arising as a result of the use of our website and digital services or the content thereof.

Your rights

In terms of your personal data you are in general entitled to the following rights: access, rectification, deletion, portability, restriction, revocation and disagreement. Furthermore you may lodge a complaint to the relevant data protection authorities.
